I founded StepnHang with a simple belief: the world's finest hand-knotted rugs deserve to be celebrated, and the artisans who create them deserve to be supported.
Growing up, I was captivated by the artistry and patience required to create hand-knotted rugs. After visiting weaving communities across Pakistan, I witnessed firsthand the incredible talent, dedication, and economic challenges these artisans face. I saw families with generations of expertise struggle to earn fair wages, and younger generations turning away from the craft because opportunities were limited.
That's when I knew I had to act.
Our Mission
StepnHang was born from a commitment to create a direct bridge between world-class artisans in Pakistan and discerning customers across the United States. By removing middlemen and building lasting relationships with weaving communities, we ensure that:

Where Our Rugs Are Made
Primary Weaving Region: Peshawar, Pakistan
Peshawar, the historic capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, is home to one of South Asia's most renowned rug-weaving traditions. Our primary partner network is based here, where multi-generational families have perfected the craft over centuries.
Artisan Network: 45+ Skilled Weavers
We work directly with 45+ experienced artisans across Peshawar and surrounding areas. Many come from families with 3-4 generations of weaving expertise. Our youngest weavers are in their 20s; our most senior have over 40 years of experience.
Fair Wages & Benefits
Our weavers earn 25% above regional averages for rug-making work. We provide year-round employment, health insurance support, and educational assistance for their children to ensure both immediate support and long-term family stability.
Knowledge Transfer
We actively support the training of younger artisans, ensuring that traditional techniques and cultural heritage are passed to the next generation. Every apprentice trained today represents a family's future economic security.
